Interaction on Int'l education held

With a view to making international educational counselling reliable, speakers at an interaction today stressed coordination among Educational Counselling Association of Nepal, Ministry of Education, Foreign Ministry, parents and students.

The interaction was organised by ECAN on 'The Roles and Challenges of international Educational Counsellors in Nepal'.

On the occasion, Suprabhat Bhandari, chairman of Nepal Parents' Association, aired his concern about the security situation of students who are abroad. "Major problems can be minimised once parents attend counselling offered by institutes in choosing countries and courses," said Bhandari.

"Nepal can be an educational hub in South Asia if we come with a new educational policy, security assurance to foreign students and educational infrastructure development to cope with the present brain drain," opined Rajendra Baral, ECAN general secretary.

"We want to be monitored and regulated. However, the directory is yet to be approved by MoE," alleged Baral.

ECAN member Bishnu Hari Panday drew attention of the government towards the unauthorised educational counselling.

Speaking at the programme, Devi Prasad Paudel, an MoE official shed light on the issues of 'No Objection Letter', a requirement to pursue studies in foreign countries.
