Education fair from Thursday

KATHMANDU, June 8: The Educational Consultancy Association of Nepal (ECAN) held a press conference to announce the commencement of the Higher Education and Career Fair 2010 on Tuesday at the Direction Exhibition and Convention Center, (DECC), Tripureshwar.

The fair is to begin from Thursday, June 10, at Bhrikutimandap. Participating in the four-day event will be education consultancies, colleges and recruitment agencies.

A total of 50 national colleges are said to be putting up stalls at the venue. Besides, ten colleges from India and over 80 consultancies are said to be taking part.

Rajendra Baral, General Secretary of ECAN, said that such events will not only prove beneficial to the students in helping them find the best and suitable colleges but also will be advantageous to the colleges in finding potential students.

Among the stalls put up in the exhibition in Kathmandu, the organizers informed that there will also be stalls of various technical institutes. These will provide even more options for students and will be beneficial to those who want to take up technical fields. Various Banking Institutes and the British Council are putting up stalls.



Furthermore, the German Embassy will have a seminar and the Alliance Française de Katmandu (AFK) will have a stall. There will also be a blood donation camp, the press release stated.

Uttam Prasad Panta, President of ECAN, stated that such kind of events contribute in creating educational awareness. "The students who attend the event will get knowledge on what educational field is suitable for them, and also receive an opportunity to explore various options available," he said.

The fair will begin at 11am and conclude at 5pm all through the four days of the event.
